Customers open to e-billing
More customers are exploring alternative methods to mail to pay their bills, the latest edition of Chartwell's Guide to Bill Presentment and Payment reveals, according to Electric Light and Power.
Based on data from a survey of more than 90 North American utilities, Chartwell estimates that utilities will have on average less than 5% of their customers viewing their bill only in an electronic format.
On the other hand, the average percentage of payments received through postal service continues to decline, suggesting customers are becoming more comfortable with making transactions in an electronic or online format.
IPayX adds new features
US electronic billing and payment technology provider Internet Payment Exchange (IPayX) has enhanced BillPay Assist, a feature of its eCareview Healthcare Billing Portal, which now allows the set-up of recurring consumer payments online, says The Paypers.
Payments can now be prompted by specific triggers: either when a new statement is added to the billing system or based on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly instalment plan, or bill payments made according to paycheque cycle dates.
BillPay Assist also allows healthcare providers to provide customers with additional payment-related options such as the ability to set up payment plans for new accounts, apply discounts and make recalculations.
TotalMD sends billing claims
Medical Billing Program (www.medicalbillingprogram.com) has released a new software product, TotalMD, which offers medical billing software that looks and feels similar to a Microsoft product, according to 24-7 Press Release.
The medical billing software allows users to view insurance claim forms graphically, add any necessary notes and changes, and then electronically send insurance claims.
Harry Selent, president of www.MedicalBillingProgram.com, says: "In today's economy, its critical for doctors and chiropractors and podiatrists to be on top of their financial data. Our software allows offices to view and track a patient's individual and family deductibles from the patient screen as well as from the transaction entry/ledger screen."
