Dexchange says its Continuous Online Backup (COB) software from Hiarc is available for the Linux operating system, as well as Solaris for Sun and Intel platforms.

COB is an automated data replication and recovery program that offers numerous benefits to an enterprise by guaranteeing that company data remains on line, on a 7-day and 24-hour basis.

It can replicate mission-critical files in real-time, replicating sensitive data to off-site facilities if required, thus minimising and eliminating operational downtime and lost business from corrupted or lost files, while at the same time increasing the disk-to-tape backup window.

The software replicates data from virtually any routable Internet Protocol-based client, eg Linux, Solaris, Windows and other versions of Unix, and allows clients to recover their replicated or archived copy of their data.
