With more companies than ever before giving serious consideration to their resilience, ContinuitySA has introduced a new training course which gives delegates the opportunity to learn about best practices for implementing and managing a business continuity management system (BCMS). The first course is scheduled for 8-9 October.
Tracey Linnell, General Manager, Advisory Services, ContinuitySA says the Certified ISO 22301 Foundation Course equips delegates to understand the implementation of a BCMS in accordance with the ISO 22301 and ISO 27031 standards, and is offered in conjunction with the Professional Evaluation and Certification Board (PECB).
"The two-day training is suitable for members of a business continuity team, IT professionals seeking comprehensive knowledge of the main processes of a BCMS, staff involved in the implementation of the ISO 22301 standard, BCMS technicians and auditors," she notes.
By attending, delegates will:
* Understand the relationship between a BCMS, including risk management, controls and compliance with the requirements of different stakeholders of the organisation
* Know the concepts, approaches, standards, methods and techniques allowing to effectively manage a BCMS
* Acquire the necessary expertise to contribute in implementing a BCMS as specified in ISO 22301 and ISO 27031
The first day includes presentation of the standards ISO 22301, ISO 27031, ISO/PAS 22399 and the regulatory framework, an introduction to management systems and the process approach, and an overview of fundamental principles in business continuity.
The second day includes instruction on implementing controls in business continuity according to ISO 22301, Business impact analysis (BIA) and risk management, implementation phases of the ISO 22301 framework, continuous improvement of business continuity, and how to conduct an ISO 22301 certification audit. The course concludes with a Certified ISO 22301 Foundation Exam.
"The training is based on both theory and practice, with examples based on real cases," notes Linnell.
The Certified ISO 22301 Foundation exam fully meets the requirements of the PECB Examination and Certification Programme; delegates who successfully pass the exam and comply with all the other requirements related to this credential are issued with a recognised participation certificate of 14 Continuing Professional Development credits.
The course is priced at R6 500 and places are limited. Interested parties can contact Faith Mdiniso (+27) 11 554 8000 or e-mail training@continuitysa.co.za.
