Concept PC results released
The results of 'PC Design Contest 2007', co-sponsored by Intel Korea and Samsung, were released to the general public on 19 April, according to ZDNet.
There were six winning designs out of 644 PC designs received for the contest. The top six had to be both beautiful and practical.
The winner of the grand prize in the 'revolutionary' category was the "Egg" PC. It comprises a tray with three marble knobs and has a more slim-line design than an ordinary PC.
Increase in PC exports
Samsung, LG and Trigem's computer export in the first quarter has more than doubled compared to the previous year, says ETNews.
The Ultra Mobile PC has become increasingly popular, through partnering with local companies that provide system devices and multimedia services.
Samsung broke its record by selling 437 000 units locally, and exporting 194 000 units. Samsung's UMPC 'Q1' sold about 100 000 units in the first quarter.
Quad-core processors gain popularity
According to the latest figures from iSuppli, over half of all mainstream desktop computers will feature quad-core processors by the end of 2009, says GotFrag.
According to Matthew Wilkins of iSuppli, quad-core microprocessor technology is coming to the mainstream, along with capabilities that are presently reserved only for high-end systems.
Quad-core processors accounted for 16% of the performance desktop market in the Q1 2007, and are expected to account for 33% by year's end.
