In addition, they must have proven skills, knowledge, qualifications and experience that would add value to the agency, and are suitable to serve on the board by virtue of their qualifications and experience, it states.

The department further states that candidates must have experience in any of the following disciplines: information technology, financial management and accounting-related fields, strategic and business management, development economics, information security, corporate/commercial law, corporate governance, as well as human resources management.

They must have a minimum of five years of board experience, and at least eight years in an executive or senior management role in the public or private sector, including non-governmental sector.

The application must contain a comprehensive CV with a physical and postal address, telephone and e-mail address, previous experience quoting dates, and institutions or organisations concerned. A motivation letter, certified proof of academic qualifications and ID must also be included.

According to the department, preference will be given to candidates whose appointments will enhance the diversity of skills, gender, youth and disability representation. Preferred candidates will be subject to security clearance and disclosure of business interests.

Correspondence will be limited to short-listed candidates only, and approved non-executive directors will be subjected to an annual lifestyle audit, it adds.
