Collaboration deal drives multi-screen video
Elemental Technologies, a provider of video processing solutions, has partnered with thePlatform, a video management and publishing company, to release a solution for managing video content libraries for multiple IP-connected devices, reports TMCnet.
The joint solution is said to combine the power of the Elemental Server file-based video transcoding solution with thePlatform's mpx video management system for multi-screen video delivery.
Geek Wire says Comcast plans to use Elemental's and thePlatform's video management technology, to deliver premium video content to the Xfinity TV app for the iPad and iPhone.
ReadWriteWeb notes that the Comcast's new push is an interesting one because it needs a streaming media application to counter Hulu, Netflix and other online video services.
According to Wireless Week, sales of Elemental's products have skyrocketed as content and service providers look to drive video content to meet the demand from iPad users.
Last month, Alcatel-Lucent revealed a strategic alliance with thePlatform to help cable and IPTV providers deliver video services to mobile phones, tablets, TVs, and PCs.
