Cisco Systems has unveiled a Wireless LAN Specialisation as part of its continuing effort to help channel partners penetrate new high-growth markets. The Wireless LAN Specialisation provides channel partners with a structured training roadmap and verification process to ensure that partners have the expertise to plan, design, implement and support Cisco Aironet wireless LAN solutions.
"Customers in the small-and medium-sized business and enterprise markets are turning to channel partners for guidance on how to employ the flexibility, mobility and cost savings benefits of wireless LAN products," says Steve Midgley, channel manager at Cisco Systems Southern Africa. "This represents a new growth opportunity for our channel partners. By achieving our new Wireless LAN Specialisation, channel partners earn more credibility and are recognised for having a proven expertise in Cisco end-to-end wireless LAN solutions."
The Cisco channel specialisation training roadmap provides a complete list of Cisco recommended training courses that are designed to provide channel partners with the knowledge to successfully pass the required specialisation exams. The courses are offered in a wide variety of formats including online, instructor led and CD-based, providing partners with both traditional and self-paced learning options. "Cisco utilises the training roadmap and exam-based verification process to help ensure channel partners gain the technology-specific expertise to deliver the highest level of customer satisfaction," adds Midgley.
The new Wireless LAN Specialisation is the latest addition to the Cisco channel specialisations, which encompass key technologies such as IP telephony, VPN/security, WAN switching, voice access, SNA/IP integration and network management. The specialisations require channel partners to fill the following job roles with individuals who have met specific Cisco testing requirements: an account manager, responsible for the sales and customer engagement processes; a sales engineer, responsible for the network planning and design; and a field engineer, responsible for the implementation and support of the specified Cisco solution. Specific training roadmaps, exams and applications for all Cisco channel specialisations, are available online at www.cisco.com/go/specializations.
