Choice Logistics, SunGard renew agreement

Choice Logistics, a provider of outsourced mission-critical service parts logistics services, has renewed its agreement with SunGard Availability Services to help ensure consistent delivery of its services, according to TMCnet.

SunGard is a provider in disaster recovery, IT operations and information availability management solutions.

Choice relies on the SunGard Availability Services infrastructure to support its business continuity plans.

Corporates urged to up data security

Steve Cummings, special adviser to Deloitte's enterprise risk services division, claims the recent Twitter attack is a “striking example of how commercial organisations can become the indirect target of geopolitical threats”, reports SC Magazine.

Cummings says: “Companies have a responsibility to ensure that their systems are not compromised or solicited in denial-of-service attacks”.

He adds that, apart from the wider impact, their own IT capability will be diminished and they will have lost control of their systems, clearly demonstrating a glaring hole in their data security strategy, something that everyone now needs to be concerned about.

DR becoming a priority

It has been claimed that threats from hackers and cyber criminals have pushed disaster recovery plans to the top of many firm's business agendas, says Periscope IT.

According to Computer Weekly's Darren Thomson, disaster recovery is slowly cementing itself as an independent business sector as opposed to a mere IT issue.

He claimed more executives are getting involved in disaster recovery plan development as the number of mission-critical applications - such as Web site monitoring services - that are used by businesses increases.
