Cartoon Network goes HD

Turner Broadcasting is to unveil a high definition (HD) simulcast of Cartoon Network on Sky, writes Digital TV Group.

As of on 14 September, Cartoon Network HD will be the first HD channel in the UK from the broadcaster behind children's channels Cartoon Network, Boomerang, Cartoonito and CN Too.

Ben 10: Ultimate Alien, Regular Show and Adventure Time are among the shows which will be brought to viewers in HD.

Rapid TV News reports that more new shows debuting as part of Cartoon Network's strong September slate include an all-new re-imagined version of 80s series Thundercats, and new action-adventure series including Transformers Prime, Battle Force 5 and Bakugan Gundalian Invaders.

According to Cable.co.uk, VP and GM of the UK and Ireland at Turner Broadcasting, Anthony Lukom, described the Amazing World of Gumball as a “truly unique and groundbreaking series” that demands to be seen in its “breathtaking HD format”.

“We're thrilled that that this series and many more will be available in HD from this coming September,” he added.
