CA has announced a new version of its industry-leading CA Clarity Project & Portfolio Management (PPM) software, as well as a new service delivery approach and a personalised training tool for CA Clarity PPM. The new software, services and training make CA`s comprehensive PPM solution even faster to deploy and easier to use-enabling customers to more rapidly and cost-effectively gain the benefits of improved alignment between IT investments and business priorities.
CA`s enhanced PPM offering also further delivers on the company`s Enterprise IT Management (EITM) vision of unifying and simplifying IT.
The new version of CA Clarity PPM software features more than 50 enhancements, as well as significant improvements in usability and application performance. Best-practice content accelerators in the new version each contain dashboards, reports and best practice content designed to speed deployment and end-user adoption. These accelerators include the PMO Accelerator 2.0 and the Federal PMO Accelerator 2.0, which provide pre-packaged content and reports specifically designed to enable the Project Management Office (PMO) to quickly deploy project and programme management best practices.
"Because of the intense demands on IT organisations, CIOs are under more pressure than ever to ensure every dollar, person-hour, and infrastructure resource is allocated where it can have the greatest impact on business performance," said Carl Landers, vice-president of marketing for CA Clarity PPM. "The new enhancements to CA Clarity PPM software enable our customers to meet this challenge-even as their IT environments become increasingly complex and their project portfolios become increasingly diversified-by providing them with the visibility and financial insight they need to make better, more informed management decisions."
Leveraging the best practices from more than 800 successful global PPM deployments, CA`s new service delivery approach applies a streamlined methodology, data migration utilities and `lift-and-drop` CA Clarity functionality, such as the PMO Accelerator, to substantially accelerate time-to-benefit. This new approach delivers a pre-packaged solution that includes product installation, application of best practices and pre-configured field-proven customisations that CA has learned are most valuable to customers. This new service builds on the "30 Days to Clarity" programme first announced by CA last year. It also supports continual customer solution maturity through incremental delivery of additional functionality.
"It is critical for companies to bridge process and cultural gaps to successfully deploy PPM solutions - this can be greatly facilitated by preconfigured deployment and process options that get the customer installed faster with much of the functionality they want most while helping to shift behaviour as well," said Melinda Ballou, programme director of Application Life-Cycle Management at IDC. "Starting implementations from scratch when enterprise customers have many of the same needs and requirements doesn`t make sense in terms of the time spent or cost to deploy."
To provide highly personalised and cost-effective PPM training, CA is also delivering the CA Productivity Accelerator (CA PA), a customisable training solution that provides immediate and ongoing support to end-users of the CA Clarity PPM solution. Context sensitive, the CA Productivity Accelerator is able to provide users with the information they need to be successful, based on where they are in the CA Clarity PPM application at a given time. It consists of three components: training content, an editor to modify or create content, and education consulting services for development and delivery of training materials.
This complete synchronised platform enables customers to optimise user effectiveness and adoption while streamlining training operations.
