CA today announced a major new release of its Recovery Management software r12, to enable its partners to capitalise on the significant growth potential in the backup and recovery management market, as well as the untapped opportunity presented by the mid-market.
On release, the solution will be exclusively served through CA's partner community, which is further testament to CA's ongoing commitment to the channel. The solution consists of, CA ARCserve Backup r12, CA XOsoft High Availability and CA XOsoft Replication.
CA Recovery Management r12 is designed to enable partners to help their customers reduce the amount of time spent managing data protection and to recover information. The key issues their customers are concerned about today include:
* Out-of-control data growth - according to IT industry analyst group, IDC, requirements for storage capacity are growing at a rate of nearly 60%.
* Data protection and privacy - both have become major issues and are very much in the public eye and are 'top of the mind' issues for the IT manager.
* Compliance pressures - which continue to affect businesses and there is a continual need to prove compliance, particularly related to data retention policies.
CA Recovery Management r12 is designed to help resellers exploit the significant growth in the backup and recovery market, which according to IDC, is estimated in 2006 to be worth $2.68 billion globally and set to increase to $3.57 billion by 2011.[1]
Furthermore, the focus on business continuity and disaster recovery is a top concern in mid-size firms (100-999 employees) which have moved beyond simple back-up to disaster recovery and business continuity. This creates a huge untapped area of growth for partners and seeks to help them increase the amount of business they do with CA.
Dave Ball, Global Channel Marketing Director at CA, says: "The launch is set against a series of recent initiatives to further enable CA to get closer to its channel, including the recent launch of a 'Simplified Pricing' scheme to improve the 'ease of doing business' with CA, by making the products easier to sell, generate more value and provide a faster time to revenue. We also recently launched the 'CA Partner Enablement Programme' to provide key partners with more access to CA's resources, including on-hand technical support. This announcement is further evidence of CA delivering again."
More broadly, this announcement signifies CA's most significant set of new storage management product offerings, since its acquisition of XOsoft in July 2006 and also demonstrates the ongoing importance of product development as a central component to its growth strategy. CA Recovery Management r12 is a modular offering that can be easily integrated enabling partners to offer their customers a comprehensive Recovery Management solution.
"CA's comprehensive recovery management solution offers a strong value proposition to our end-users," said Martin Hellawell, Managing Director for Softcat, an IT solutions provider for the corporate market. "It is ideal for IT managers seeking to simplify the protection and recoverability of mission-critical applications."
"Our customers are increasingly demanding CDP technologies and are looking for them to easily integrate with their IT operations to mitigate risk and expedite recovery," said Billy Lane, Managing Director at Symitry, a leading UK IT solutions provider which specialises in offering systems integration, mission-critical services and world-class technology for business customers. "CA's new solution enables us to offer a solution that meets this growing demand."
