CA and AQM Solutions have announced the integration of the Automated AQM product suite with CA Wily Introscope, to help customers proactively maintain the end-to-end performance of critical business services running on mainframe and Web infrastructures.
In addition, the companies announced a multiyear agreement, under which CA will distribute Automated AQM, a comprehensive mainframe performance solution that proactively identifies potential application tuning opportunities before they become performance problems.
IT organisations continue to leverage their mainframe investments by extending them via the Web. Ensuring the consistent performance of these loosely coupled business services can be a significant challenge, however, since they are characterised by complex dependencies across multiple infrastructure tiers.
By complementing the deep mainframe performance insight provided by Automated AQM with CA Wily Introscope's comprehensive J2EE, .NET, and SOA monitoring capabilities, the integration between the two companies' solutions enables mainframe specialists to quickly pinpoint performance issues and to take remedial action before critical service levels are affected.
"Mainframe performance specialists can find it difficult and time-consuming to precisely monitor and analyse the impact of Web applications on mainframe workloads," said Markus Bauer, director of AQM Solutions. "The combination of Automated AQM and CA Wily Introscope simplifies this aspect of performance management by providing mainframe staffs with unified visibility into all relevant performance metrics."
In addition to optimising application performance, technicians can use the APC Performance Desktop to view the combined data from Automated AQM and CA Wily Introscope to detect and address inefficiencies that may be overtaxing CPU capacity and other resources - enabling them to reduce costs by making better use of existing infrastructure.
CA is distributing Automated AQM to complement its own popular mainframe performance management and application quality solutions with advanced analytics and diagnostics. With this automated technology, customers can avoid performance-related fire drills, improve customer service, reclaim wasted CPU, and significantly reduce IT operating costs.
"IT organisations must consistently deliver increasingly complex business services across multiple platforms, without increasing budget or headcount," said Chris O'Malley, senior vice-president of CA. "By working together, CA and AQM Solutions are delivering solutions that enable customers to quickly discover and solve potential problems - so they can successfully fulfil their service-level objectives within their often-severe resource constraints."
