CA announces support for UnitedLinux across portfolio of e-business management solutions

Johannesburg, 03 Jun 2002

Computer Associates International, Inc (CA) today announced support for a uniform version of Linux for Business, known as UnitedLinux, across its broad portfolio of e-business management solutions.

UnitedLinux addresses the enterprise customers` need for a standard, business-focused Linux distribution that is certified to work across hardware and software platforms, speeding the adoption of Linux in the enterprise. It will provide one unified Linux, developed and supported by Caldera International, Inc, Conectiva S.A., SuSE, Inc and TurboLinux, Inc.

"As a company that has demonstrated unmatched commitment to Linux as an enterprise computing platform, CA is extremely supportive of the United Linux initiative," said John Pincomb, vice president of marketing at CA. "We believe that this broad-based cooperative effort will further accelerate the embrace of Linux by customers across all market segments and will enable them to realise the significant technical and business benefits that Linux offers in their distributed and mainframe implementations."

CA offers more than 50 solutions that enable organisations to manage, secure, preserve and integrate Linux distributed and mainframe implementations across their heterogeneous enterprises. CA will continue to work closely with the Linux community to ensure the full compatibility of its solutions with all major distributions, including Red Hat.
