Bytes Document Solutions (BDS), the authorised Xerox distributor in 26 countries in sub-Saharan Africa, and a division of Bytes Technology Group, will be showcasing two Xerox digital presses at the Africa Print Regional Expo, in Bloemfontein, which takes place at Kiepersolrant, on 9 May. BDS is a platinum sponsor of the 2013 Expo.

With the ongoing growth in the demand for colour pages, the two digital presses from Xerox - the colour 770 and 1000 - make it easier for printers to capture more lucrative jobs, ranging from photo books and brochures to direct-mail pieces and catalogues.

"The Xerox Colour 770 and 1000 presses are geared for various production environments, including in-plant operations, quick printers, commercial printers, creative agencies, photo speciality retailers and corporate departmental environments," says Paul Haglich, marketing manager for production systems at Bytes Document Solutions. "The productivity features and media handling of the presses will appeal to both seasoned digital professionals and those entering the market."

Responding to customer requirements for alignment and registration accuracy, both presses are equipped with tools designed to simplify the way customers achieve image quality consistency and maximise press uptime. "Both presses feature ACQS (Automatic Colour Quality Suite) with inline spectrophotometer so the users can easily automate control and adjust density uniformity without the need for a technician," adds Haglich. "This boosts productivity considerably."

The Xerox 770 is the ideal solution to get commercial printers started in the digital production printing market, with profitable applications such as full-colour catalogues, photo books and manuals. It produces sharp colour graphics and crisp text at up to 2400x2400 dpi resolution. The solution can be customised to fit any business with a choice of two colour servers and a wide variety of feeding and finishing options. The X770 is also ideal for the corporate in-house print facility, as it is far more economical to print high-quality, full-colour brochures, marketing material and manuals on a production press when compared to smaller office colour printers. By centralising their print facility, corporates can achieve savings on printing costs.

"This is a press that lets people grow their digital printing business by expanding their revenue opportunities and reducing costs," says Haglich. "It enables them to enter the production printing market or boost their in-house colour production with robust capabilities runs at 70 images per minute with all substrates from 70gsm to 300gsm, making it the fastest press in its class.

The Xerox 770 helps businesses reduce costs as it's a true production-capable printer that makes it easy to get started in digital production printing. Print businesses can produce more jobs with the flexibility to print a wide variety of applications, on both coated and uncoated paper. Users can also enable highly efficient, profitable digital printing by integrating with the Xerox FreeFlow Digital Workflow collection.

For commercial print shops producing high-volume, high-value applications, the Xerox Colour 1000 offers additional productivity, running all paper stocks, including heavyweight up to 350gsm, at full-rated speed - 100 pages per minute (ppm). "The Xerox Colour 1000 press delivers sharp, rich, digitally mastered image quality," says Haglich. "Our unique clear dry ink station adds impact to documents by adding a layer of clear toner in either a flood coat or spot coat mode running at rated speed. No other digital press on the market today can offer this value-add feature. Our ACQS tools allow you to drive more high-quality jobs through your shop fast and also reduce costs."

The press delivers vibrant image quality at 2400x2400 dpi for excellent sharpness and uniformity. Print businesses can produce more jobs with the optional Full Width Array and Automated Colour Quality Suite, a set of colour management tools that automate time-consuming tasks. Colour-critical jobs can be completed faster, while maintaining consistent, accurate image quality.

"We look forward to the opportunity it will give us to communicate these new business solutions directly to customers in their own regions," says Haglich.
