Representatives from the broadcasting industry are meeting to develop a draft strategy for the digital migration of broadcasting systems at the Indaba Hotel, Johannesburg today.
The Digital Migration Working Group (DMWG) includes representatives from the broadcasting industry, the Independent Communications Authority of SA, government, civil society, organised labour and consumer groups.
The meeting, organised by the Department of Communications, aims to develop a South African strategy to migrate analogue systems to digital, for both radio and television.
Issues to be discussed include terms of reference for the DMWG, working methodology and the agenda to guide the process towards the development of the broadcasting digital strategy for SA.
The department says members of the public will be given an opportunity to contribute to the development of the broadcasting digital strategy as the programme unfolds and that the final draft will be presented to the minister of communications for consideration.
