Brainstorm CIO Survey and Banquet 2022: How are SA’s CIOs dealing with change?

ITWeb Brainstorm, in partnership with MTN Business, has been keeping track of corporate South Africa’s technology strategies – according to the people who are in charge.

Now in its ninth year, Brainstorm’s CIO Survey has captured input from CIOs and equivalent C-level execs from SA’s top private and public sector organisations. With over 150 verified local CIOs participating, the survey is unquestionably the definitive benchmark study to gauge what trends SA’s technology decision-makers are dealing with, and the outlook for the years ahead.

Brainstorm’s editor-in-chief Adrian Hinchcliffe will offer a sneak preview of the results at the annual ITWeb Brainstorm CIO Banquet, to be held at Inanda Club in Sandton, Johannesburg, on 27 October 2022.

The Brainstorm CIO Banquet is also about celebrating the work of SA’s technology leaders, and is a must-attend event for the country’s top C-Suite tech decision-makers and those who wish to network and exchange insights with them.

The event will kick off with the sponsor address by Wanda Matandela, chief enterprise officer, MTN Business; followed by an address from Morgan Malyon, executive product manager at Huawei Enterprise Technologies SA.

Derek Wilcocks, group CIO of Discovery, will present a keynote address, setting the scene for examining the ever-more challenging role of the CIO.

Last year, the survey found that confidence was growing in corporate South Africa about the power of technology and the competence of the CIO. The past few years have fuelled incredible changes in the digital transformation and cloud journeys of most organisations, and Hinchcliffe’s presentation will reveal how the CIOs are dealing with these new challenges, while figuring out what the future holds for their business and the industry as a whole.

The results will be further unpacked in a panel discussion.

The full research report will be published in early 2023 and will be available free of charge to all valid survey respondents. It will also be on sale for other interested parties.
