Borland's Kylix, the first native code rapid application development (RAD) environment for the Linux operating system, is now available from distributor SDD.
According to Werner Obermeyer, product manager for Borland at SDD, Kylix is a revolutionary development tool for Linux environments. "Kylix combines an intuitive visual design environment, optimizing native code compiler, interactive debugger and comprehensive component suite to give developers the tools they need to rapidly deliver Web, desktop and database applications," he declares.
"Kylix is expected to have a significant impact in the Linux create sophisticated high-performance Linux applications with the ease of drag-and-drop development. Kylix includes CLX, the component library for cross-platform development. CLX allows for component-based development for high-performance Web, database and desktop applications, while enabling simple migration of Windows-based applications onto the Linux platform.
Kylix supports most major Linux distributions, including RedHat, SuSE and Mandrake, and is available immediately through SDD's dealer base.
