Blue Pencil pilots SMaMS concept

Blue Pencil, a leader in the provision of SAP Solution Manager services, was requested by SAP Active Global Support (AGS) to be part of a selective team to pilot a project for SAP Solution Manager as a Managed Service (SMaMS).

SAP AGS invited only three Run SAP partners worldwide to participate in this pilot to test the concept of SMaMS for potential rollout globally. Blue Pencil tested the concept internally and with two reference customers, an exercise that provided the necessary expertise for the company to be able to deliver according to client requirements in the future.

SAP AGS will begin actively marketing the SMaMS concept throughout the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region from November 2013 and Blue Pencil will be joining them at various events throughout the region to market this concept.

SMaMS will provide for two scenarios: Self Service and Full Service. In both instances, the Run SAP Partner will set up the technical infrastructure and host SAP Solution Manager to which the customer SAP Landscape will be connected. In the Full Service scenario, the partner will provide all SAP Solution Manager Services related to the customer, while the Self Service model allows for the customer to manage their ongoing SAP Solution Manager services internally, limited to Application Incident Management, Maintenance Optimiser, Solution Documentation and Service Delivery (EWA and SLR).

SAP AGS is introducing this SMaMS model to enable customers to access multiple SAP Solution Manager functionalities without the need for upfront investment. Run SAP partners like Blue Pencil have extensive experience in implementing, managing and supporting SAP Solution Manager and can provide smooth and reliable support services to hosted customers, in line with customised service level agreements. This radically reduces the time and cost required to utilise SAP Solution Manager functionalities and allows customers to reap the value of this proven platform for building and running SAP like a factory.
