BCX selects Esker for Enterprise On Demand faxing service

SPI, the African distributor for utility software products and services to the open systems segment of the ICT industry and the southern African reseller for Esker, a leader in document process automation solutions, today announced that Business Connexion had adopted the Esker product as its Enterprise On Demand faxing solution.

Business Connection (BCX) had received a request from one of its blue chip clients to improve and enhance its existing third-party fax solution. Thus, Business Connexion was looking for a solution that would meet these new requirements and be able to handle the large database and the high volumes of faxes that are processed by its customers each month. One of the customers is Sasol, an international integrated energy and chemical company.

Sasol, which uses SAP as its ERP system, required a faxing solution that was able to provide the following additional benefits:

* Return of delivery reports to SAP, as this is critical for its daily operations, and are used for internal and external billing purposes;
* An ability to trace the fax back to an SAP user for audit purposes; and,
* A solution able to handle multiple faxes to the same number, such that they are queued or batched in a way that prevents any interference with each other and/or generates busy signals back to the sender.

The proposed solution was subjected to an extensive proof of concept (POC) evaluation prior to any decision being made. Despite such a rigorous POC exercise, the Esker solution performed far above the expectations of both BCX and Sasol, thus the former had no reservations about recommending its use to Sasol as the answer to its faxing requirements. The versatility of the reporting and the extensive reporting that Esker Fax is capable of doing was a major factor for Sasol, as it was able to generate those reports and so much more from the information, which it was never able to get out of its previous solution nor from just the SAP reporting. In addition, the change of technology platform to Esker also presented the benefit of an in-house-provided solution, rather than one reliant on the support of a third party.

"We are delighted at this outcome, it simply confirms our confidence in the Esker product," said Chris Anderson, Managing Director of SPI. "We look forward to further solutions utilising Esker's business potential in conjunction with our business partners such as Business Connexion."
