Ballybunion Golf Club swings into action with NFS Technology

NFS Technology Group has won a contract with Ireland's premiere golf venue to provide its IBS integrated club management solution to address all Ballybunion Golf Club's management needs.

When Ballybunion Golf Club needed new state-of-the-art technology to manage every aspect of the club's business, it turned to the NFS Technology Group to provide the solution.

Ballybunion is Ireland's premier golfing destination, ranked among the top three clubs in the country and top 25 in the world. With its prime location on the South West coast, it boasts stunning views over the Atlantic Ocean and surrounding countryside, together with a magnificent golf course.

Couple the panoramic view with great food and drink, a busy clubhouse full of golfers and groups from across the world, and it's easy to see why the club is adored by the thousands who play there every year.

But with the rapid changes in today's golf world, the bespoke software used until recently to manage membership, point of sale and tee times, wasn't giving the functionality required to take the club forward.

“We needed to investigate alternatives that could manage the flexibility Ballybunion offers its members and visiting golfers,” said General Manager Vari McGreevy. “So we were very happy when we discovered that NFS Technology Group could offer us a solution that met our comprehensive needs.”

The solution chosen was NFS' IBS integrated club management solution, already in use at leading golf clubs worldwide, including prestigious venues like The London Club and St Andrews Links Trust, as well as smaller clubs like Hadley Wood in Hertfordshire.

The IBS club management system provides a powerful tool, which addresses changes to club management and brings together business aspects with seamless integration and powerful solutions. The suite's modular design allows clubs of all sizes to pick and choose the solutions that work best for them.

“Many of the leading clubs in the UK and Ireland are seeing the benefits of total integration and state-of-the-art technology platforms,” said Steve Salter, Head of Golf and Leisure for NFS Technology Group. “IBS gives golf clubs the tools to increase membership, decrease attrition and drive sales across the business, while delivering high levels of customer service. These areas are a prerequisite for any successful golf club.”

The flexibility of IBS was a key factor in the club's decision to use NFS Technology. “We required a solution that could manage the green fee packages Ballybunion offers while tracking usage of the courses,” said Vari. “These packages offer a great option to visiting golfers, allowing them to play both courses at the club for a fantastic deal.”

The IBS option for making online reservations as part of the system also appealed to Ballybunion because of the club's significant amount of business from the US.

The final, important part of the decision-making process was the ability to offer online services to Ballybunion's members as well. Online member accounts, statements, tee times and competitions are vital in giving members a high-quality experience. Sleek member profiling and spend tracking will also allow the staff at Ballybunion to give their members great service.

Ballybunion's IBS integrated club management system will go live at the end of October, allowing the club's reservations team to start taking visitor bookings for 2012.

We are delighted to be working with some of the greatest golf clubs in the world,” commented Luis Desouza, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NFS Technology Group. “As an international software company, we are extremely proud that Ballybunion has chosen our IBS system.”
