European manufacturer and distributor of cold chain vaccination equipment B Medical Systems has introduced a cold chain data logger to its portfolio of vaccination solutions.
According to B Medical Systems, the battery-operated device is a small unit that accompanies vaccines during their life cycle to their delivery destination in the most remote areas of Africa. The gadget enables real-time, worldwide monitoring and quality surveillance of vaccines which ensures the cold chain maintains the best quality during transportation from Belgium, India and US to various parts of the African continent.
Cold chain monitoring is a common practice in the pharmaceutical and food industries, where the products are particularly sensitive to temperature fluctuations. The B Medical Systems cold chain data logger can assist in validating that vaccines are stored and transported within regulated temperatures and that the quality maintains utmost standard, says the company.
Luc Provost, CEO of B Medical Systems, says the data logger ensures the cold chain is respected and every vaccine is both safe and usable, improving patient outcomes and reducing waste.
"We are delighted to be able to offer our customers new and innovative solutions for safe vaccination. In the most difficult situations and remote areas in the world, our customers can count on us to ensure the success of their vaccination campaigns," notes Provost.
The data logger currently travels with vaccines being distributed from Belgium, India and US to the remote parts of Nigeria, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Senegal. The device is equipped with a SIM card that comes with a 10-year subscription. It uses an integrated GPS module which works via a cellphone network to track the vaccines, he explains.
B Medical Systems says the data is always available online for consistent monitoring, through Google maps, showing the location and real-time status or performance of equipment. If there is an issue with the quality of the vaccine, such as temperature deviations and lid openings, the data logger will register this and send a text or e-mail alert.
