IT infrastructure distributor Axiz has landed the HP Imaging and Printing Group (IPG) distribution contract, after HP terminated its relationship with Rectron.
This morning, HP confirmed industry speculation that Axiz would walk way with the spoils. This followed HP and Rectron experiencing "an increasingly incompatible fit between the companies in recent times", as described by Rectron in a statement at the time. Rectron held the HP contract for five years.
Mark Perry, HP Solutions Partner Organisation country manager, says the established relationship HP has with Axiz, based on its distribution of its servers, PCs and storage products, was key in awarding it the IPG business.
"HP's printer strategy is to distribute products in the most efficient way and this is through a two tier model - distributor, reseller, customer," says Perry. "Axiz addresses, among others, a particular reseller channel set and we believe Axiz will be successful in extending HP's channel reach."
Axiz will distribute HP's IPG products for consumers and commercial clients. HP's other distributors are Kolok (supplies), ACT (supplies), Drive Control (supplies and hardware) and Tarsus (hardware).
Perry says: "HP is ensuring product differentiation within IPG to protect existing distributor investment in the channel."
