Award-winning HP Omnibook 6100 lands at SDD with extended warranty offer

Johannesburg, 05 Oct 2001

Powered by Intel's fastest mobile Pentium III processor operating at 1.13GHz, the Omnibook 6100 combines performance, expandability and portability in an easy-to-use notebook PC for competitive businesses. Weighing a mere 2.8kg, this notebook is housed in a stylish magnesium alloy case incorporating a 15-inch display, a swappable media bay and an optional Actiontec Prism wireless LAN adapter.

Margie Adam, product manager for HP Notebooks and PCs at SDD, says the Omnibook 6100 has already been the recipient of two international reviews with comments like, "the best notebook we've seen so far" and "a solid design with a good blend of performance and features". It was also highly commended for its outstanding battery life. In addition, the Omnibook 6100 won PC Magazine's editor's choice award with a five star rating.

The Omnibook 6100 is ready to grow with your needs. The standard offer of 128MB of PC-133 SDRAM can be easily increased to 256MB. Maximum memory that can be reached is 1GB. Standard storage features include a 1.44MB floppy disk drive, and a 24X CD-ROM drive or 8X speed DVD-ROM module depending on configuration.

Connectivity is enabled with two Universal Serial Bus (USB) ports, a parallel port, a VGA out-port and an S-Video port. "The Omnibook 6100 fully supports any Windows OS platform ensuring highest return on investment and maximum productivity," she adds.

The Omnibook 6100 is equipped with a three-year carry-in parts and labour warranty. However, SDD is currently running a dealer promotion on the Omnibook 6000 and 6100 that allows you to upgrade to a three-year onsite warranty. Furthermore, customers that purchase any HP Omnibook from SDD have the opportunity to upgrade their one-year carry-in warranty on the XE3 or 500 model to a three-year onsite warranty. Any Omnibook purchased from 1 August from SDD will qualify for these upgrades worth R3 000 for a minimal fee of approximately R600 including VAT.

Adams states: "This generous offer reflects how confident SDD is of the quality and endurance of HP Omnibooks."

By the end of September, SDD will stock the 1GHz Omnibook 6100 retailing for approximately R25 350 including VAT and the 1.13GHz model for approximately R29 000 including VAT. SDD will distribute the notebook to its nationwide network of over 3 000 resellers.
