AVG has unveiled AVG 2012, the latest edition of its Internet security software, that it claims is lighter, faster and smaller than any of its previous products.
The company says the software also comes with updated features, performance enhancements and content download acceleration.
JR Smith, AVG CEO, speaking during the company's 2012 event in Prague, said ease of use, value and trust equate to peace of mind. He said computers and devices have become an extension of every individual at work or play, and the company is not just securing machines, but users' digital lives.
AVG 2012 comes with several new features, including AVG Accelerator, which optimises file and video downloads on certain sites, preventing time wastage. Another feature, AVG Advisor, continually monitors the PC and advises the user on available remedies and optimisation possibilities for any problems they may encounter.
Smith said compared to its predecessors, the 2012 product boasts 50% smaller download size and faster install time, a 45% reduction on average of disk space, 20% less process and memory usage and 10% faster load time.
“It also includes an integrated security firewall and AVG LinkScanner that provides security for online shopping, banking and browsing, and integrates with AVG's ecosystem of products.”
He said the company has 98 million active customers whose input helped develop the 2012 product. “Their feedback was analysed and leveraged to better serve their needs.” AVG 2012 can be downloaded here.
