AUNDE signs multimillion-rand deal with Dimension Data

Automotive leather company selects Dimension Data for all its IT requirements

Dimension Data KwaZulu-Natal recently implemented a total IT solution for AUNDE South Africa, a manufacturer of high quality leather seat covers for the local and international automotive industry.

AUNDE consolidated its five production facilities into a single site and selected Dimension Data to provide a complete IT solution for the new site, including scalable cabling, a secure networking infrastructure and company-wide standardisation on Microsoft applications.

"This consolidation presented us with an opportunity to select a single solution provider to handle all our requirements, from the initial planning stages to project management and implementation," says Craig Dennis, senior manager, information technology at AUNDE.

"The pool of skills and services we could provide AUNDE South Africa enabled us to design, deploy and manage an end-to-end, scalable, cost-effective solution. The design meets AUNDE South Africa`s current business requirements plus, due to the foresight applied during the design stages and the financial solution provided by Dimension Data, the solution will continue to meet AUNDE South Africa`s business requirements into the future," says Gillian Brunings, Account Manager, Dimension Data KwaZulu-Natal.

Dimension Data drew on the extensive in-house skills in its various business units to provide AUNDE with the following solutions:

* A secure local area network (LAN) and a wide area network (WAN) that includes voice over Internet Protocol capabilities (VOIP) to its textile plant in Rossburgh.

* Active Directory 2003 implementation, server standardisation; migration to Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, Windows 2003 operating system and Microsoft Office 2003 roll-out as well as a domain name change.

* Integration of all AUNDE fax and voice mail using RightFax and Call Express.

* A new cabling infrastructure, which required a minimum of 25% growth capacity.

* A new computer room, including an uninterruptible power supply, fire protection, remote monitoring, redundant air-conditioning, access flooring and lighting.

* A hybrid telephony solution, combining IP telephony and traditional PABX.

* Audio conferencing and boardroom audiovisual installations.

"Our main requirements included future growth capacity, dealing with a single solution provider that would be able to address all our IT requirements, cost reductions and standardisation. Dimension Data exceeded all our expectations and we look forward to working with them in the future," concludes Dennis.
