Arbor and AlphAbloX team on Java analysis

Johannesburg, 08 Jun 1998

Arbor Software and AlphaBlox, a leading provider of Web-based operational analysis applications, have joined forces to speed the delivery of analytic applications built on Arbor Essbase OLAP Server. Under a cooperative development and joint marketing agreement, AlphaBlox will add support for Arbor Essbase to its flagship product, AlphaBlox Enlighten, enabling the assembly and deployment of OLAP applications using AlphaBlox Enlighten`s Ready to Use Java Building Blox. Arbor Essbase customers will be able to use AlphaBlox Enlighten to develop OLAP applications, such as budgeting, forecasting, planning, and sales analysis, that will take advantage of the benefits of AlphaBlox Enlighten`s Dynamic Application Assembly (DAA) framework, InterBlox. DAA represents a change in software development that allows corporations to assemble Web-deployable operational analysis applications without writing any code. Through the AlphaBlox Enlighten system, Arbor customers and partners will be able to assemble custom analysis applications on the fly that are specific and responsive to their line of business need. AlphaBlox Enlighten allows customers to create custom analysis applications with a Lego-like approach where building blocks "Blox" are snapped together on a Web page, creating an interactive application accessible through any Java-capable Web browser. Arbor customers will also be able to take advantage of the ease-of-use, drag and drop customisation and interactive analysis of applications created within the AlphaBlox Enlighten environment. "The two companies complement each other," says Henry Morris, director of Data Warehousing Research at IDC. "Both companies are focused on the analytical applications market and on empowering line of business managers, not just analysts, to access and analyze data. IDC believes the analytic applications market will reach $2,6 billion by 2001, and both companies are poised to leverage this opportunity. The combination of an OLAP server and a dynamic application assembly paradigm made possible through reusable Java Building Blox should strengthen the business improvement cycle for both companies` customers."
