Anonymous declares war on Donald Trump

Hacking collective Anonymous has vowed "total war" against Donald Trump, making a "call to arms" by summoning fellow hacktivists to unite with them in an attack against all of his Web sites on April Fool's Day.

In a resurgence of its #OpTrump campaign, the group released a new video addressing the controversial Republican candidate directly.

Kickstarter's first acquisition

Kickstarter just announced its first ever acquisition: the crowdfunding company is snapping up music-subscription service and fan community Drip for an undisclosed amount.

Drip was founded in 2012 as a service that connects music fans with indie labels, including Domino Records, Fool's Gold, and Ghostly International. However, Drip's founders announced back in February that it was to close down on 18 March, citing a number of reasons - none of which sounded particularly insurmountable.

Facebook, Twitter fight to stream live TV

Social media giants Facebook and Twitter are in a race to win the rights to show conventional TV programmes, according to a report in the New York Post.

Both companies have approached programmers about a possible agreement as they battle each other to deliver streaming video to their users, the report says.

Fashion firm rebuked

A US fashion firm has settled a case in which it was accused of failing to flag paid Instagram endorsements as being adverts.

Lord & Taylor had been charged with paying 50 "influencers" to post photos of themselves on the same weekend in March 2015 wearing one of its dresses.

Aston Martin, Red Bull alliance

Formula One outfit Red Bull and British luxury car manufacturer Aston Martin have announced a technology partnership to build an £2 million Aston Martin-branded supercar, which will be quicker than an F1 racer.

Red Bull's chief designer Adrian Newey will work with Aston Martin's design boss Marek Reichman on the car, dubbed Project AM-RB-001, said Red Bull.

Hoverboard industry blow

The hoverboard industry suffered another major blow on Wednesday after the International Trade Commission announced a ban on certain personal transporter devices being manufactured and imported into the country in response to a patent claim filed by Segway.

The hoverboard selling party is likely over for a large number of companies based in China and elsewhere that have been selling the popular device in the US.
