Nokia Siemens Networks announced this morning it has appointed former Alcatel-Lucent CEO Linda Khumalo as its new Southern Africa head.
Khumalo will be replacing Dr Jan Mrosik, who will be relocating to Germany to head up Nokia Siemens' energy automation business unit.
Khumalo started his professional career as a technical officer in the then Department of Post and Telecommunication.
From 1995 to 2000 he was at Telkom SA as a corporate account manager, senior marketing manager, and business development manager.
Says Dr Jan Cron, head of Nokia Siemens' overall EMEA region: "We thank Dr Mrosik for his invaluable contribution in establishing Nokia Siemens Networks as an undisputed leader in the ICT industry in SA.
"We're extremely proud to welcome Linda on board. He will head up the South African company's drive of delivering innovative solutions to meet customer demands in the new SADC growth markets."
Nokia Siemens has deployed telephony and Internet infrastructure in 44 countries in Africa and the Middle East.
