ACCPAC Africa has announced the release of ACCPAC Advantage Series for the Linux desktop, making it the mid-market's first accounting application to support deployment on both Linux servers and Linux desktops.
"Linux continues to gain acceptance within mid-market businesses, offering a high-performance environment for business applications at a low cost," says Jeremy Waterman, managing director at ACCPAC Africa. "Now, Advantage Series customers can take full advantage of Linux-at the server level as well as on the desktop."
Linux use at the desktop is growing rapidly, according to IDC (Source: IDC Bulletin - Worldwide Linux Operating Environment Forecast, 2002-2006: Client Shipments Pick Up Pace). IDC cites growth in use of the Linux client in 2001 at 107%, more than four times the growth of the previous year. IDC further projects continued growth of the Linux client at a compounded annual rate of 30.1% through 2006.
ACCPAC Advantage Series is a Web-based accounting solution built on an object-oriented, multi-tiered architecture that enables ACCPAC to quickly integrate new market-demanded technologies.
The package is highly customisable, designed to scale as a company grows, and is the foundation of a completely integrated set of end-to-end business management applications including CRM, e-commerce, human resources and warehouse management.
The growing use of Linux on the desktop, coupled with the availability of ACCPAC accounting applications, provides mid-market clients with a non-Microsoft choice and the potential for significantly reduced total cost of ownership in managing their accounting systems.
