Botswana mineral exploration and borehole drilling specialist De Wet Drilling Botswana has awarded a 300 000 Pula contract to Pretoria-based accounting and financial software specialist 4most's Botswana branch to supply, install and commission a SAP Business One solution.
Limitations in terms of a non-computerised stock control system, cost centre management and mobility led De Wet Drilling Botswana to seek new technology for a solution.
“Their preference was for a single, robust system that would establish control of their process flow, including purchasing and assignment of stock to various drilling sites and cost centres,” said 4most Botswana Branch Director Quintin Verburgt.
“The solution offers mobility with company directors using iPads and iPhones for purchase approvals and alerts, and to view stock value and movement of small, high-value items. It unites the general ledger with logistics activities and integrates exception of stock units for efficient management. Approval procedures are systematically and automatically aligned.”
Verburgt said mobility automatically keeps key decision-makers on top of issues that require decisive action for specific business events. Workflow-based alerts direct information to the right person at the right time.
“Managers no longer need to run reports to obtain mission-critical management information. The system runs the reports at the predefined times and sends them to the relevant manager.”
To achieve the business objectives, the SAP solution provides functionality that alleviates process implementation issues by clearly defining departments and the roles of individuals.
“The company now has a single repository of information, real-time access to financial information, management reports, detailed financial breakdowns in cost centres, distribution channels and material requirements,” said Verburgt.
Mario Bellini, financial manager at De Wet Drilling Botswana, said SAP Business one had provided peace of mind through drill down and tracing functionality providing rapid access to all transactions and their status. “As part of the SAP implementation, we reviewed and improved our business flow processes, which resulted in significant time savings associated to certain tasks, enabling management and financial information to be made available on a more timely basis than in the past.”
