20twenty talent search results in flood of applications within first days

By 20Twenty
Johannesburg, 29 Oct 2003

The digital bank 20twenty, a division of Standard Chartered Bank, launched an unconventional recruitment campaign over the weekend - and by close of business on Saturday the bank had received 1 350 registrations after sending e-mails to its customer community alone. After the campaign broke in the main body of the Sunday media, the number of applicants had jumped to almost 4 000 in the first four days. Applicants are required to make a series of maneuvers through a maze, whilst being encouraged to leave their details in the 20twenty `talent pool`.

20twenty is following a different approach by not advertising specific positions - the aim is to get people whose attitude and thinking will match that of 20twenty.

"This is not a standard send-us-your-CV campaign. We are looking for bright people, who think differently and who want to be challenged every day. We assess this by asking in-depth questions that cover skills and competencies as well as attitude. It`s therefore more of an invitation for potential applicants to make themselves known to us. If we find the right skills match, we will take the process further," says Christo Davel, CEO, 20twenty.
