Retailers remain a popular target for cyber criminals
Although attackers and their tricks of the trade are constantly evolving, one thing remains the same, and that is retailers are continually in their cross-hairs. This is such a widespread issue that practically every report on cyber security over the past few years lists retailers as a prime target for cyber criminals.
Research reveals one in three retailers is currently losing revenue due to cyber attacks, with 16% of companies experiencing more than US$1 million in losses. Moreover, only 52% of retailers feel their security infrastructure is up to date and able to withstand the latest threats. This, along with the sheer volume of cyber attacks that happen every day, means it is critical for retailers to step up their security efforts.
