Cloud technologies as an enabler for digital transformation

A complimentary ITWeb webinar brought to you together with AWS

Our host, Matthew Burbidge, opened the first of five webinars in this series by thanking our event sponsor, AWS, for enabling the discussion around the adoption of cloud technologies in South Africa and how they enable digital transformation.
The webinar, which went by the theme “Cloud technologies as an enabler for digital transformation,” marked an important milestone in the series by opening the discussion around the important role being played by cloud technologies in the realisation of a digital economy.
AWS Head of Middle East and Africa, Public Sector Business, Zubin Chagpar, zoned in on what the adoption of cloud technologies means for the South African economy. He also detailed all the available cloud solutions and support, which AWS avails to its clients.
The independent keynote address, which was delivered by Herotel and Project Isizwe founder, Alan Knott-Craig Jnr, delved into how important it is for all South African communities to have reliable and affordable access to the internet.
He said that new technologies such as the cloud can only be fully utilised if people have access

Matthew Burbidge wrapped up by facilitating an open discussion between Alan Knott-Craig and Zubin Chapgar, where they tackled, among other others, the following questions:

  • How is cloud technology changing the public and private sector landscape in South Africa;
  • The innovations, global competitiveness, process enhancements and cost savings that cloud technology can present;
  • How can cloud facilitate the implementation of emerging technologies;
  • What AWS resources and support are available to equip and empower customers; and
  • How can cloud technology enhance security, procurement and capacity building?
