Effective disinfection of enclosed spaces has become one of the most important issues for a variety of organisations, from companies to schools, from government departments to private homes. With the prevention of the spread of COVID-19 a critical issue, the requirement for reliable and effective disinfection has spread beyond the healthcare sector, requiring innovative solutions to the challenge.
Adius Ncube, director at ODC Distribution, explains there are a number of key issues that customers need addressed. “Any potential solution must be effective, affordable, safe, versatile and easy to use. Ricardo Oppelt, director at ODC Distribution, comments that in addition to ensuring that rooms are completely disinfected, key benefits come from the system's usability and cost-effectiveness. “Other systems such as manual disinfection or UV lights have high operating costs, they also require the people responsible to be constantly vigilant so that no areas are missed. With the HaloFogger’s intuitive controls, the operator only needs to activate the unit in the designated space and then return once it’s finished. “Making the unit simple to use is key to ensuring that it’s properly adopted,” comments Ncube. “Most disinfecting systems are complex to use, leading to poor adoption. Having a system that isn’t properly used is just as dangerous as not having one at all.”
He adds that the HaloFogger technology was initially adopted by healthcare and larger commercial customers. However, COVID-19 and improvements to the system are making it increasingly popular across a wide range of industries, including offices, hotels, restaurants, gyms, schools and homes.
Oppelt adds that while the COVID-19 pandemic will not last forever, he foresees that the requirement for safe, effective and easy-to-use disinfectant strategies will continue for the foreseeable future. “This has been something of a wakeup call for everyone and they are now taking the elimination of biological hazards more seriously.
