Wired4Women Awards 2025
While significant efforts have been made to improve diversity in South Africa's ICT sector, the gender gap remains significant. Addressing this requires a shift in mindset: young women need to see that a career in tech is both achievable and rewarding; they need to see more women succeeding in this field.
Last year, the Wired4Women Tech Forum and ITWeb Brainstorm launched the Wired4Women Awards to recognise excellence and encourage broader participation for future generations.
The response was phenomenal, culminating in a gala event in May 2024 – a true celebration of the breadth of female tech talent and impact.
As we launch the second annual Wired4Women Awards, our goal is to uphold the integrity and independence that define these accolades and further raise awareness of remarkable women in South African ICT.
The awards cover a wide range of roles, from CIOs and leaders of tech companies, to entrepreneurs, innovators, and students about to embark on their careers.
Wired4Women Awards to recognise excellence
What
The Wired4Women Tech Forum is proud to host its second awards programme. Wired4Women is a strong supporter of improving the gender balance in the tech industry and growing female representation in the space and believes that an annual awards programme is a natural progression to celebrate and recognise female excellence and showcase the impact that women are having on the industry.
Where
In March, we’ll be holding the prestigious awards ceremony recognising the many achievements of women in different fields across the industry – from CIOs to those leading tech companies to students about to embark on their careers.
When
The idea behind the Wired4Women awards is to identify excellence in the field and encourage greater participation, as well as provide role models for the future generations to look up to. The awards will be run with independence and integrity and include a varied judging panel, culminating in a prestigious gala event, where awards and prizes will be handed out. Twelve potential awards categories have been identified, around the technology areas of leadership, entrepreneurship, business and talent.
