Data privacy activist! Compliance Officer at heart! Lover of all things data, compliance, risk, governance and legal. Adv. Dirontsho Mohale has gained knowledge in over two decades that she has spent in the field. She is passionate about both the profession and professional.

Adv Mohale holds an LLB, postgraduate diploma in Compliance Management and Senior Management Development Programme, postgraduate diploma in Senior Management Development Programme, a certificate for the Kenyan Data Protection Act from Strathmore University in Kenya, and a certificate in Data Protection in Africa from the University of Pretoria.

She is an Admitted Advocate of the High Court of South Africa, a member of the Compliance Institute of Southern Africa - CPrac (SA), a certified information privacy professional (CIPP/E), certified information privacy manager and is awaiting her designation as Fellow in Information Privacy with the International Association of Privacy Professionals and she is an approved FSCA FAIS Compliance Officer.

Dirontsho is also a non-executive director on two boards and was a board member of the Compliance Institute Southern Africa where she chaired the Social, Ethics, Remuneration and Nominations Committee.

Dirontsho has worked in senior management positions within the financial services sector, locally and internationally, and has nearly 20 years’ experience as a compliance officer as well as in risk, governance and legal. She has occupied compliance roles in some of South Africa’s major banks and leading insurance companies. Her most recent roles include Senior Compliance Manager for Data Privacy and Corporate Governance at Discovery Group and Executive: POPIA at the Information Regulator SA. She rejoined Standard Bank in the role of a data privacy lead for SBSA and she is Group Data Privacy Lead for the Standard Bank Group.

She is also the founder and CEO of Baakedi Professional Practice. 100% black owned, 100% female owned and run practice that allows her to express her expertise and passion, holistically, in the areas of compliance management, legal advisory, risk management and governance, her way!
