ITWeb and Micro Focus are pleased to announce that Braam Malherbe, an international speaker, extreme adventurer, conservationist, youth developer and author, will be delivering the keynote address at Micro Focus Universe, which will be held at the Inanda Club in Sandton, on 29 August.
Malherbe is known as a man on a mission to save planet Earth, yet he is very humble, seeing himself as an ordinary man who believes in doing extra for the causes that he deeply cares about, which is what makes him extraordinary.
His accomplishments are many and include running the length of the Great Wall of China, running the entire coastline of SA, doing a race against time to the South Pole in -45^0 Celsius temperatures, and most recently, completing another world first: rowing unassisted for 92 days from Cape Town to Rio de Janeiro, all in the name of the DOT Challenge, a movement he invented that challenges everyone to 'Do One Thing'.
Malherbe began public speaking when he realised that his own adventures and personal journey could help others move from a life of success to a life of significance.
He believes that without technology, many of his adventures would not have been possible. "For example, I would not have been able to row from the Cape to Rio if it wasn't for technology," he says.
This year's Experience Micro Focus Universe has as its theme Powering Digital Transformation, and Malherbe believes that when it comes to technology and transformation, everyone can make a difference. "Digital drones and trackers are being used to monitor the location of rhinos, to protect them in the wild. There is a lot of power in interconnectivity."
Angela Mace, customer relationship manager and events director at ITWeb, says she is delighted to have such an interesting and exciting speaker on board. "It will be fascinating to hear about his adventures around the globe, and hopefully to learn to apply his approach to the challenges we face in life and in business."
The Experience Micro Focus Universe event, being held for the second time in Johannesburg, will give delegates the chance to interact with Micro Focus customers and gain knowledge from their global executives and local product specialists. "A variety of interesting sessions and workshops will give delegates an opportunity to grow their skills, and learn about the latest roadmaps and innovations," says Mace.
"Moreover, the event will once again feature the 'Demo Zone', which will enable attendees to explore the company's entire portfolio and see product demonstrations live in action."
Micro Focus, in conjunction with Axiz and SITA, runs an SMME (small, medium and micro enterprise) programme. With this in mind, a new addition to the Experience Micro Focus Universe event in 2019 will be the SMME Chill Zone, where attendees can meet these SMME partners and learn more about their skills and expertise.
