Zaid has over 20 years of IT experience across a wide range of disciplines, including networking, infrastructure, development, IT operations, enterprise architecture, security and a working knowledge of risk management with audit exposure. He has established efficient and effective security practices, driven multiple enterprise-wide security programmes, projects and implementation of security capabilities in the banking and financial services sector. He has also led and managed large security operations functions, providing security services across all security domains. Zaid joined Discovery in April 2017 and as the Group Chief Information Security Officer for Discovery Ltd, he is accountable for information governance and security at a group level and is responsible for setting the strategy and achieving the vision by developing and implementing group-wide programmes. He is known for having a bias for action and has laid out a clear strategic path for the information governance and security journey in Discovery. Since joining, he has successfully provided distinct strategic and technical leadership across the Discovery Group and knitted together a team under him who are dedicated and focused on preventing and detecting cyber crime. Zaid has broadened Discovery’s knowledge in the security field and as a humble, respected leader, attracted talent to this pool of scarce resources; establishing a world-class internal information governance and security practice.
