Dumisani Gumbi is an experienced ICT assurance professional whose experience of over 17 years arises from specialising in: IT governance, information governance, data privacy, and IT compliance. He is currently the Group IT Governance and Compliance Manager at a large listed South African Insurance Group, is the Deputy Chairperson of the Cape Peninsula University of Technology Council and serves on the Board of Directors for ISACA’s South Africa Chapter as the Regional director for the Eastern, Western Cape regions, whilst caretaking the KZN region. He is a spirited change agent who believes in the undying spirit and tenacity of people. As a leader in the governance, IT and assurance sectors, he is passionate about paying it forward and mentoring the next generation of leaders. Through his involvement as an industry mentor with the Allan Gray Orbis foundation, Dumisani passionately supports and guides future leaders. Dumisani’s qualifications include a BSC Computer Science Diploma (CTI), an LLB Degree (UWC) and an LLM Degree from the University of Cape Town (UCT) with a focus on corporate governance, cybercrimes and cyberlaws. He also holds various compliance and ICT industry certifications and is a firm believer in life-long learning. Dumisani’s passion lies in the areas of corporate and IT governance, responsible leadership, data privacy, legal technological research and student mentorship. When not juggling work and MBA studies, Dumisani enjoys spending quality time with his family of four.
