Martin Mirero is a seasoned ICT professional with over 15 years’ experience in mid and executive-level ICT management in both the private and public sectors, crafting the bridge between people, processes and information technology on the one hand, and strategic business drivers and objectives on the other, to create innovative solutions that add value and drive change. He has worked closely with the governments and public sector agencies of some of the larger and more vibrant economies in Sub-Saharan Africa, including Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya – where he is currently based.
As CIO at Huduma Kenya, a transformational national program building integrated service delivery platforms (digital information hubs, e-Portals, mobile/USSD applications, contact centre) to transform citizen service delivery across government; he has been involved in developing the organization’s IT strategy and policy frameworks including IT Governance structures based on COBIT 5, PMO setup and management, IT Service Management, Agile Software Development including DevOps and API Product Management capabilities. Martin has also helped steer the architecture and scaling of the End-User-Computing environment that now enables up to 2,200 staff to access a unified platform via VDI from their workstations to serve up to 50,000 citizens a day.
Acting as a trusted advisor to senior government officials, the corporate C-Suite and participating consortia on complex deals, as well as formulating and driving technology sales strategies has broadened Martin’s outlook and armed him with a valuable mix of skills. He is well versed in strategic planning, pre-sales and sales consulting, project management, enterprise architecture frameworks, IT governance and audit, process improvement models and governance frameworks.
Martin holds an MSc in Computer Science (Distributed Information Systems) from Essex University, England, and a BSc Computer Science (Hons) degree. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Information Systems at the University of South Africa (UNISA).
