Christo Coetzer is director and CEO of BlueVision ITM. He has been an active participant in the South African cyber security community for a number of years, and holds memberships and certifications from leading organisations.
In 2015, Coetzer earned a Master's of Science degree from Rhodes University, majoring in Computer Science and specialising in Information Security. His Master's thesis explored the adoption of ISO/IEC 27001 standards within South Africa, contributing valuable insights to the field.
He continued his studies with the registration of a PhD at the University of the Western Cape. His research aims to develop “A Decision Support Model for Effective Cyber Security Debt Management: A Focus on the South African Financial Technology Sector”.
He presented his findings at the 2024 International Conference on Cyber Warfare and Security, in a paper titled: “Managing Cyber Security Debt: Strategies for Identification, Prioritisation and Mitigation”. This is where he introduced the foundational framework of the model.
At BlueVision ITM, he spearheads efforts to fortify businesses against cyber threats through early intervention and threat detection mechanisms.Articles
