MasterSkill has entered into a partnership with Unisa to provide its Accounting Data Processing students with essential computer training software and manuals.
Says Madeleine van Tonder, managing director at MasterSkill: "Unisa, being a distance education institution, has the problem of not having students in a classroom where all the necessary software-training solutions are available. Unisa therefore has to supply students with the appropriate training materials.
"Through this partnership, we can provide students with the software and manuals for Pastel version 6 and Excel 2000, giving them the opportunity to experience the computerized accounting environment firsthand."
Says Unisa`s Mr Etienne Grobbelaar: "We are very happy to be in partnership with MasterSkill. The company is well positioned to capitalise on the growing need for self-paced training as the corporate market seeks to find cost effective training solutions, and are leaders in the field of computer-based training.
"Through this partnership we are able to provide learners with the latest software and manuals available, train them to use the software correctly, and ultimately let them experience the computerized accounting environment. I believe that learners will greatly benefit from this."
Grobbelaar also believes that the partnership will help Unisa to remain on the cutting edge of distance education. "Eventually the value-added service to students that will arise out of this agreement will take distance education - and Unisa - into another space."
