Vodacom is investigating the cause of a technical glitch that saw some customers double billed.

Vodacom customers who had their accounts double debited due to a "technical glitch" can expect to be paid back from today.

"Where debit orders were processed twice, Vodacom will ensure that refunds and all associated banking charges are paid by close of business on Monday at the earliest," according to Tshepo Ramodibe, executive head for corporate affairs at Vodacom.

He confirmed the telco had experienced a "technical glitch that resulted in a group of customers' accounts being debited twice".

On Friday, Vodacom sent an SMS to customers who had been affected, informing them of the problem and assuring them the issue was being resolved.

Ramodibe would not confirm how many customers were affected, but says Vodacom is "investigating the cause and resolving the problem".

Vodacom apologised for the mistake and inconvenience caused and says customers who did not receive SMSes informing them of the problem were not affected by the glitch.
