Nology, the local distributor of top-quality security-driven broadband and networking equipment, has partnered with telecommunications giant Vodacom Business to deliver integrated routers for its new Business ADSL offerings.
Vodacom Business selected two router models from the Billion range offered by Nology, the 7401VGP, which can be bundled optional with the Capped ADSL offering, and the 7404VGOX, to be bundled with the Uncapped ADSL product.
Both units have been customised to meet Vodacom Business' specific needs.
"The routers we have delivered to Vodacom Business offer integrated technology such as wireless access and VOIP for flexibility and business communication," says Riaan Leuschner, managing director of Nology.
The Billion 7401 combines ADSL with built in firewalls, quality of service (QOS) control, wireless LAN and VOIP and is perfect for small offices and home offices, as it comes with Nology's Easy Install software. This allows users to simply insert a CD to complete the user-friendly self-install process.
The 7404 router combines integrated functionality such as wireless, SIP standard VOIP and ADSL 2+, as well a USB port for a 3G modem. This innovative technology provides automatic switchover to 3G should the ADSL line become unavailable for any reason, minimising downtime for businesses.
Additional features include VPN support for static public IP addresses, which allows companies to host Web and e-mail servers. The router comes with a managed services solution, allowing the customer to select user services from Vodacom Business that are pre-configured prior to delivery, so when the device arrives, all the customer needs to do is 'plug and play'.
Says Ermano Quatero, Managing Executive of Products and Services for Vodacom Business: "Vodacom Business has selected Billion because the products are flexible, could be customised, and were perfectly suited to the environments we wanted to deploy the products in."
Adds Leuschner: "We have a dedicated team of development engineers with the experience and ability to completely customise our products from both a hardware and software perspective, allowing us to develop products and solutions that previously did not exist in the market. We are also able to brand the Billion products with a company's logo and colours (as with Vodacom Business)."
Broadband and ADSL have become increasingly available, and competition among ISPs and hardware suppliers has driven down prices, making this technology far more attractive to the business owner.
"ADSL is the fastest option for clients too small to afford their own dedicated fibre connections. It is also a well-known international standard and many people in South Africa use it as their main form of Internet connectivity, whether at work or at home. We are addressing this market with our new offering, a bundling of hardware and data, to make it even more affordable to South African business owners," Quatero concludes.
