Teachers to go solely virtual

The US state of Idaho is moving towards a mandate which stipulates online teachers have additional training to teach in a solely virtual environment, reports Education Week.

Most online teachers in Georgia must pass a professional development course in virtual instruction.

Many virtual schools in other parts of the US require their cyber-educators to complete professional development aimed specifically at teaching in an online environment.

Tighter budgets to boost e-learning

Tighter budgets will increase the use of e-learning technology in the corporate training market, a survey has found, writes Education Investor.

The Learning Trends Index, undertaken by training content provider Good Practice and The Learning Sanctuary, found 76% of learning and development managers are predicting wider use of such technologies as resources tighten.

And 37% of those surveyed predicted they would have to reduce staff in the next six months to cope with the financial pressures.

Dentistry students gain from e-learning

Dentistry students now only have to have access to the Internet to download case studies with image and film which show surgical procedures and disease directly to their iPhone, iPad, or laptop, states World Dental.

This is Germany's only platform for e-learning and the guidelines are issued by the Association for Dental Education in Europe, as the basis for this learning programme.

The advantage of this tool is that it provides students with a guide structure to make sure that they know what is important in dentistry.
