Tandberg intros clinic presence system

Tandberg has expanded its telehealth offerings with its Clinical Presence System (CPS), reports TMCnet.

The offering allows specialists to be instantly available at the point of care via video, helping speed the administration of medicines and life-saving treatments.

This system is currently available in the US and Canada, and is said to be the first teleconferencing solution designed collaboratively with medical professionals to offer the functionality and flexibility needed for use in medical institutions at the point of care.

MedAnywhere iPhone app unveiled

Emerging Healthcare Solutions has unveiled an iPhone app that will increase patient access to healthcare and the company expects it will drastically cut medical costs for customers, states FoxBusiness.

The MedAnywhere iPhone application is being configured to connect patients to doctors for diagnostic consultation and treatment from anywhere in the world at a fraction of the cost of a medical visit.

Once released, the app will also provide an upgrade option for live emergency medical treatment by a trauma surgeon.

Virginia bill addresses telemedicine costs

Virginia became the 12th US state to require health insurers to cover telemedicine services the same way they cover face-to-face consultations, says iHealthBeat.

Govenor Bob McDonnell signed the bill (SB 675) into law at Virginia Commonwealth University's Medical Centre in Richmond.

State senator William Wampler and state delegate Terry Kilgore, the bill's sponsors, attended the signing ceremony via teleconference from the Lee Regional Medical Centre in Pennington Gap.
