SYSPRO helps UD Trucks drive for gold

SYSPRO has been helping UD Trucks deliver its name's promise of “Ultimate Dependability” since 2003, by providing it with seamless stock control and customer support though the very latest in ERP technology.

The National Automobile Dealers' Association (NADA) - representing the interest of new vehicle franchise dealerships around South Africa - recently awarded UD Trucks a Gold Award in their 2011 Dealer Satisfaction Survey.

The annual survey evaluates the relationship between dealerships and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in areas such as stock availability, communication and technical support, and recognises those OEMs that display exceptional dealer and customer support.

SYSPRO congratulates UD Trucks Southern Africa for being one of only two truck manufacturers to receive this coveted award, after scoring particularly well in the area of customer-friendliness.

“We believe that this award is not only a result of our commitment to our countrywide dealer network, but is also a reflection of our dedication to bring our customers ultimately dependable products and services. Customer relations are a great focus area in our organisation, and we place great value on building lasting relationships with all our fleet owners,” said Johan Richards, CEO of UD Trucks Southern Africa.

To ensure this continued delivery of dedication to its more than 60 dealers across southern Africa, last year saw the company upgrade its ERP system to SYSPRO 6.1 and include an additional Inventory Optimisation module for further improvement to supply chain management. Dealers are now able to see dynamic stock levels and place their parts orders online through the dealer Web or an EPC (electronic parts catalogue), and receive next-day delivery, while all the time being able to track the progress of their orders from picking to arrival.

“In an OEM reseller type of environment such as this one, a happy dealer means happy customers. The system, therefore, allows for capturing of dealer feedback, like lost sales, in an effort of continued improvement,” explains Wouter Combrinck - Development Manager: Manufacturing, SYSPRO South Africa.

UD Trucks also uses SYSPRO for benchmarking of its dealers. Inspectors regularly visit dealers' premises to inspect the quality of the facilities and to ensure the site meets the required standards. As part of this benchmarking process, dealer staff are continuously trained to keep abreast of the latest developments within the industry, and so to be better equipped to service customers in a passionate, professional and dependable manner.
