Sybase primes iPhone for enterprise
Sybase released product offerings for the iPhone with an eye toward increasing the smartphone's enterprise functionality, reports eWeek.
Among the features are administrative policy lockdown control and bidirectional synchronisation between iPhone and database.
The offerings come courtesy of Sybase's Afaria 6.5 with iPhone support, available in mid-November, and SQL Anywhere for iPhone, whose beta program is now open.
Met Museum migrates to NaviSite
NaviSite, a provider of cloud-enabled enterprise hosting and application management services, has completed a migration for The Metropolitan Museum of Art, for managed application services to support the institution's finance, accounting, and workforce applications, states CNNMoney.
The Met chose NaviSite to manage the institution's Lawson Software and Kronos applications.
In addition to upgrading all of the museum's applications for finance, human resources, and distribution, as well as assisting with the implementation of workforce management applications, NaviSite is migrating the museum to a fully-managed application-services solution.
Singapore banks adjust IT investments
A study by IDC Financial Insights has found that Singapore-based banks have started to re-adjust their technology investment plans, reflecting a more positive outlook for the country's financial sector, according to AsiaOne.
The banks' plans for 2010 signal a return to long-term transformative projects that require significant dollar investments in IT, as well as in time, personnel and IT management resources, IDC's Michael Araneta says.
The report is based on inputs from senior IT and line-of-business executives from 15 Singapore-based banks who attended the recent IDC Financial Insights Banking Roundtable, as well as follow-up research on IT spending by IDC Financial Insights analysts in the region.
