Study explores benefits of ERP

Manufacturing and distribution organisations have unique opportunities to improve their operations via ERP software solutions, according to a study issued today by Panorama Consulting Group, an independent ERP consulting firm in Denver, according to Business Wire.

Industries included in the study include consumer products, telecommunications, energy, engineering, construction, transportation, food and beverage, retail, and metal-working organisations.

The report reveals that SAP has the leading ERP software market share in the manufacturing and distribution industry, followed by Oracle and Microsoft.

MS hosts lean manufacturing Webcast

Although lean manufacturing practices have been around for decades, most manufacturers have still not implemented lean manufacturing processes and systems to their advantage, writes IT Vendors Directory.

Many more manufacturers still do not understand how to improve operations and manage energy consumption without available environmental performance indicators.

With current economic conditions, government regulations, and the importance of cutting costs and improving customer service, going 'lean and green' are the vehicles to accelerate companies past competitors.

Suntron secures Nadcap certification

Suntron, a provider in the area of integrated electronics manufacturing solutions (EMS) and commercial off the shelf technology with six North American production facilities, has received Nadcap (National Aerospace and Defence Contractors Accreditation Programme) certification in electronic manufacturing processes for their Southwest Operations in Phoenix, Arizona, states Earth Times.

As an EMS company providing design, engineering and manufacturing services to the aerospace and defence markets, this certification reinforces Suntron's efforts to increase quality assurance for its clients.

Building upon the AS9100 certification (International Aerospace Quality Management Systems) already held, Suntron says it will continue to ensure that best practices and processes are being followed, ultimately leading to a better foundation for total cost of ownership.
