The South African Excellence Movement, realising the immense growth potential within South Africa's manufacturing industry, will host a seminar next Tuesday, 7 November for small and medium manufacturers who will be provided with key tools to assist them to become effective leaders in our current trying economic climate.
Coinciding with National Quality Week, which was established to create quality awareness and encourage individuals and organisations to focus on the importance of quality, the event will be held at the IBM Client Centre in Sandton from 7.30 am until 11.30 am.
Key players of the Excellence Movement include Rifle-Shot Performance Holdings (RSPH), the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), the Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI), the South African Quality Institute (SAQI), the Corporate Governance Framework Research Institute (CGF), IBM South Africa and Madala & Associates.
"We cannot wait for the government to take the lead, it has to come from within our own organisations," said Ian Huntly, MD and CEO of RSPH.
"Whether times are turbulent or not, successful leaders know how to inspire and act with integrity. It is our belief we can encourage small and medium manufacturers to follow suit and we are inviting these manufacturers to experience how some of South Africa's leading business executives and organisations have weathered the storm and plan to continue prospering into 2018 and beyond," said Huntly.
Many notable speakers are lined up for the event and highlights of the morning will be a panel discussion on "Successful Business Transformation and BBB-EE" led by Dilley Naidoo, CEO of Madala & Associates; Neo Mothala, transformational entrepreneur as well as independent economist, Thabi Leoka. Leoka, inspired by former president Nelson Mandela to study law and become president herself, instead became a powerhouse economist who has shattered the glass ceiling in a very much male-dominated history.
Angelo Kehayas, executive director of the Institute of Management Consultants South Africa (IMCSA) will open the event whilst Maurice Radebe, executive vice president of Energy Business for Sasol Limited will provide the keynote address. Other renowned industry leaders who will be presenting include IBM's country general manager, Hamilton Ratshefola, Terry Booysen, CEO of the CGF Research Institute, Huntly as well as Paul Harding, MD of SAQI.
